Baby memorabilia does not belong in the ‘throw-away society’ of today, we tend to hold on to many of their items. Even so, before you give birth, many people will be happy to donate unused nursery furniture and crib bedding. Since babies are a costly undertaking, be thankful for this selection of cribs and bedding for infants. Before using any baby bedding, be sure that it is completely safe.

Your baby’s first bed is very important whether it is Moses basket or a crib. Before taking the bed home make sure beyond doubt that it is perfect. The baby bedding may look new. Have you checked its safety? If the cradle is of wicker, check up the joints and remove any loose things. The mattress must be replaced as it would have definitely become bad. Babies like to put things in their mouth, so be sure that no loose ends or pieces of material are left over when fitting the skirt.

The drapes should be fixed properly. Loose materials might be caught by the child to put inside the mouth. If the budget allows it is always best to buy new for baby in lieu of safety reasons says the organization of the Juvenile Products Manufacturer’s Association (JPMA), regulating the USA and the British Standards (BS) set in the UK. The JPMA seal of approval or the BS ‘Kite’ mark are shown on products that have been safety tested and meet the requirements.

I don’t have a problem with hand-me-downs myself; I just make sure to thoroughly inspect them for safety.  Anyway, it isn’t good for the environment to throw away perfectly decent furniture and baby bedding. As your baby will spend quite a good time in the crib, it is worth spending time on it to see whether it is safe and comfortable. Please remember the following points when you check your baby equipment for safety. Be sure that snags that could catch on a baby’s clothes, as well as all chipped, loose, or toxic lead paints, are removed. Make sure that the baby’s head does not get caught between the bars of the crib by making sure the spindles are no farther than 2 and 3/8 inches apart and that the header and footer boards are securely attached with no spaces for the baby to get caught in. The joints and fixings should be tight .Otherwise the crib will wobble. It should only take one hand to raise and lower the side rail. Once raised, it should be fully secured. The final point to verify is that the mattress is clean and firm and the  top of the side rail is at least 22 inches above the mattress.

A new mattress that would fit in the crib is always better. Nursery bedding can present a risk of suffocation, so tie bumper strings tightly and ensure that the baby can’t pull down the bumper, or simply remove the bumper. For babies under a year old, overheating can be caused by using duvets, quilts, sheepskin, and pillows. Sheets and blankets may be combined and used. Also keep a thermometer in the room ready for use. You will be astonished at a baby’s ability to climb and reach things, so cribs must be kept away from curtains, window blinds, cords, lamps or nearby furniture onto which they might lift themselves.

While you are enjoying your baby, and experiencing the wonderment and fun it’s easy to forget how quickly your new baby will learn and adapt and literally grow up right in front of your eyes.

No nursery can be complete without a crib, and no crib can be complete without the right crib bedding. Because of the large selection, you may find it easier to shop online for the perfect crib. Be prepared that someone may find your choice of baby bedding ugly. This doesn’t mean it is ugly, but different people have different tastes. Also keep your budget in mind while you’re shopping. Bedding sets can get very expensive, so try not to fall in love with crib bedding you can’t afford. The easiest way to narrow your search is to choose a theme and set a budget before you start shopping.

If you’re planning on having more children, it makes sense to think ahead. If you know you’re having a baby girl, you probably have your heart set on a girl baby bedding set, blindingly pink and girly, such as a Pixie Stix 4 piece crib set. But you might have a boy next – and a feminine bedding set would look pretty weird in his nursery. Before you dump a lot of money into baby bedding, you will want to reuse it, so pick a neutral theme – and don’t worry, there are some really cute ones out there. Those super-cute (and super-costly) crib sets are very tempting, but is it really worth breaking your budget to buy it? Everyone want the nursery to look cute, but remember that it’s not your room. It belongs to your baby and babies just want a warm, comfortable place to sleep.

Physical stores usually only carry a handful of options, because they don’t have the room to to display and store the massive selections you find online. For example, while a web store may have 20, 30 or even more brands to choose from, most offline stores carry only a couple of brands. Some only have one. And you’re not paying more when you shop online, either. Online retailers can almost always sell for less than a physical location can (lower overhead).

But, of course, there are also disadvantages to buying online – the biggest one being that you can’t touch or examine the bedding. So if you want to know exactly how soft a bedding set is, you have no other choice but to buy it. Product photos, or even product videos simply do not allow you to examine the bedding the way you can in a real-life setting. You might want to look online for baby bedding ideas, but you should be aware that the range of choices is staggering and you may get overwhelmed by too many options. Try to have a general idea of what you want and how much you want to spend before you start looking.

Prior to the baby’s arrival, parents to be are excitedly setting up baby bed. So how does one select reasonably priced crib bedding that affords comfort as well? Your soft strong caring is the most essential thing. When it comes to baby bedding how is this important?

Baby skin is very delicate and the risk of skin irritation is increased if you choose rough fabrics. You can’t go wrong with these fabrics considering how reasonably priced they are as opposed to designer crib linens. Select materials like flannel and 100% cotton, which are ideal for baby’s soft skin, to prevent this. Even though all babies do not have super-sensitive skin, be intelligent enough to be proactive and prevent any damage that could occur. Even though doctors recommend 100% cotton for your baby, you should know that not all cotton material is safe for your child. When it comes to safety, you can depend on organic cotton for your baby. It is without harmful pesticides or dangerous chemical treatments. Baby bedding and clothes that are organic are a safe choice for your little one. Although organic cotton costs more, that cost means a safer and more relaxed baby, which is well worth it.

When looking for affordable baby bedding, have you considered your options for finding those items? Mothers no longer have to buy whatever is available and cut it to the size they need. Previously there were only unimaginative pastels to choose from but that has changed now. The small size of the mattresses made it necessary to cut and sew the bedding. At this time there are options available without any hassles. Only you know the struggle it is to create the perfect nursery. Because of the frequent napping of babies, it is important for them to have a comfortable bed.

While crib bedding is still comfortable, new moms can now also have safety and style as well. It doesn’t matter if they are shopping for bedding that is for a boy or girl’s room. You can be proud of this inexpensive but quality bedding which is made with organic cotton. Now there’s a wise investment! New consumer demands have captured the attention of crib bedding manufacturers. Gone are the bland and boring styles of the past.  Manufacturers are now hiring designers who put together ensembles that appeal to the baby’s senses. Designers now offer a wider selection due to new fabric technology and a greater desire to attract customers. For the discriminating baby, these crib sets allow them to be safe and relaxed. In the relatively inexpensive price range of $100, one can purchase discounted crib bedding from online retail stores. To ensure your ideal baby room is practical and beautiful, be sure to research your options before spending any money. You can choose a set that already has all the pieces, or you can mix-and-match separates to make your own individual design. You can create a unique and personal theme by matching separates creatively. The benefits of separates are that not only are you able to purchase extra mattress covers but you have so many options to choose from.

How can you make the best choice for baby bedding? Anything which is not neatly pressed is less than desirable in bedding for crib. Don’t forget: size matters. The right fit ensures a neat, trim look and keeps your baby comfy and cozy. Elastic straps on bedding are important for both mom and baby, as they will in fact help to keep the bedding in place on the mattress. Babies need their bedding changed often, so buy extra bedding. By getting two extra sheets, you can keep your baby comfortable all day and night. Do certain colors influence your mood and elevate your spirits? From this you can get your first indication of what color to choose for the baby’s bedding. No matter if you decide to go with one color or to use a variety, the main color should always complement the wall color. It should be easy to wash baby bedding in a washing machine. Very detailed crib bedding is hard to wash in the washing machine. You don’t want to take the time to hand wash a difficult piece. The two things that can be easily washed by a machine are cotton and flannel; you just need to put them into washer, rinse and dry them. This increases the time you can spend with your child.

Now that you are informed as to how to go about shopping for your baby’s bedding, the next thought that you should concern yourself with is the time the baby spends in the crib. You can certainly get more items if the baby is going to be using the crib for a year. The gift of a crib set is always a good idea, but make sure to pick the one that will impress both the mother and the infant.

The baby’s crib is a key item to have in place ready for the newborn baby’s homecoming, along with other essentials. But with all of the many varieties on the market today and with most people attempting to stick to some type of budget, how is one to know what to look for, which brand or model is better than another, or how cheap is “too cheap?”

Your baby is so precious and vulnerable, so when first considering buying a baby crib, ensure safety standards are met. The US, for example, has compulsory safety standards, covering things such as the gap between the cribs slats or bars. When buying a crib, bear in mind that your baby will soon be standing, and the height from mattress top to the top of the rails is important.

Also, never buy or borrow a crib that was made before the year 1978 as there’s a high likelihood that it will contain lead in the finish.

The Advantages of Buying Cheap Baby Cribs

If you’re on a budget, cheap baby cribs can be a real lifesaver, provided of course, that they meet all of the necessary safety requirements and are well constructed. Inexpensive cribs will also allow for more monies to be spent on other much needed items, such as the crib’s bedding, bumper pads if you choose to use them, blankets, and the ever essential mattress pads, not to mention all of the other things baby will need like a stroller, or a walker, a high chair, and a playpen.

Buying cheap baby cribs should be fine from a safety point of view, as the same standards apply, but they may just not last as long or have the design features of a more expensive crib. If you buy a second hand crib, you do not know if it safe, especially if safety standards have changed since it was manufactured.

DaVinci, Great Beginnings and Jerry Lind are good examples of well manufactured but inexpensive baby cribs.

The Disadvantages of Buying Cheap Baby Cribs

Low cost cribs are rarely made from “real” wood, which makes them not quite as strong and durable as their authentic counterparts. It is best to make sure you have a strong and sturdy crib, to ensure it survives the active youngster who will be jumping up and down and shaking the bars in just a few short months’ time.

The difference between cheap baby cribs and their more expensive counterparts is likely to be in longevity, styling, quality and features. One vital safety feature to watch for is an easy to use but effective safety lock on the side rails, so the baby cannot find an easy way out as they become active later.

Some other possible risks of purchasing Low cost cribs are manufacturing defects, such as sharp edges or points, creases and cracks, or holes or splinters in the wood. While we all want to get a good bargain and save money whenever we can, sacrificing our baby’s safety or well being certainly isn’t worth saving a few dollars.

Encourage your child to make their own sounds and noises – give them musical toys or rattles to play with.  Teach them how to clap. The more they explore their own sounds, the more they learn.
