I adopted a baby boy from foster care and it cost me $50. He was 3 weeks old. He was a drug baby (addicted to crack) and his mother didn’t want to fight for him so she signed the termination paperwork right away. It’s rare but it does happen. We were told all the stories about how bad his life would be due to the drugs but we decided that we would love a child born to us the same way and help them through the struggles. The issues (that he was supposed to have) didn’t bother us because he was going to be loved regardless, unconditional love. Now he is 2 1/2 and he is wonderful. He is sweet and affectionate and he is so smart. He shocks me every day with the stuff that he knows and I have no idea how he figured it out. I wouldn’t trade him for the world!! Currently, we are trying to adopt again (from DSS) and we said any child under 7 (because our other son is 8 and I want to keep my birth order as much as possible, even though the baby is young enough to not know the difference). Good luck to you. Keep your record clean and get an education and set yourself up financially and you will be fine. You don’t have to be rich, just have a good job and a clean home for the child to live. No criminal record and just be stable. Children in foster care need stability and love more than anything.

Ken asks…

can i adopt a baby for free?

i can have baby‘s my self because my body is mass up and i really want a baby and i thanking to adopt but i need some more info where to look and how much it cost and i just wanted to know if u can adopt a baby for free

Baby Talk answers:

I don’t think there is ever a way for it to be 100% free due to legal fees, but sometimes if you’re a foster parent the option may come available to adopt. Or if you know someone who is pregnant and wants to give their baby up, they may choose you- but usually they expect you to foot their medical bills.

Free babies are a rarity.

Marie asks…

Is is true that you can adopt babies for free…?

I heard from a few people that you can adopt hispanic and black babies for free in America. I wanted to see if that was true and if it is only those races. AND if so, can you give me a website or something that says where you can adopt them and the requirements, etc! Thank you sooo much. The answer with all of this and more will be chosen as best.

Baby Talk answers:

They may have been referring to adopting babies/children from the state. (not sure what the race part has to do with it) If you adopt kids in the foster care system, you get training, they stay in your home as foster children for 6 months and if the parent right are terminated at that time, the adoption will take place. The state picks up the cost of the adoption, that’s the only thing I think they might be referring to. (and this is for Texas, I’m sure other states do things a little differently. )
