Baby Health Care: The Right Organic Crib Mattress
Babies sleep sixteen hours regularly in a day. It is not surprising that every parent wants to make sure that there is nothing to harm his baby’s health when he lays down on his crib. Nothing is more important than the crib mattress where the baby is found lying on most often. Parents who value earth-friendly products or push for sustainability should enjoy the benefits of having an organic crib mattress for their babies.
What is the reason why an organic crib mattress is a good baby product to buy? The primary aspect you should delve into is the materials that make it up. The regular crib mattresses are made from materials that may be harmful to the environment and to anyone’s health and they are also laden with formaldehyde which is what baby will be breathing most of the time. These baby mattresses also contain PBDE or polybrominated diphenyl ether, a flame retardant that is linked to SIDS or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome and most cases of cancer. Organic baby crib mattresses are made of 100% organic substances such as organic cotton, organically grown wool, or natural rubber. An organic crib mattress is hypoallergenic and non-irritating which makes sure that your baby is free from any harmful chemicals. No matter how long baby is laid on the crib mattress, he won’t be susceptible to rashes and any unhealthy skin condition as well as chemicals that might cause respiratory problems or bacteria that might bring in diseases.
Organic crib mattresses will cause no problems with dyes and metals that might cause serious health problems for your baby in the future. The sealant used for these organic crib mattresses is not formaldehyde but tree-based oil; hence it does not cause any irritation to the respiratory system. There are organic crib mattresses that are moisture resistant and it makes them easy to clean and wash. A good quality crib mattress can serve as a great mold of the baby’s body when it’s cold and he needs a blanket.
Some add-ons are found in some organic crib mattresses like bumpers and comforters that are also made from the same organic substances. You may think that because it is organic it would have a queer look; on the contrary, you can find organic crib mattresses of stylish and sleek designs which are more pleasing to the eyes than any synthetic material.
Using organic crib mattresses gives parents peace of mind since they can be sure that baby is not exposed to harmful substances that may cause any respiratory complications even if he stays on his mattress for long hours every day.

I don't have this mattress, but do use the Serta Organic contour changing pad, so I know the lamb you're talking about. On our son's mattress, we use the Organic Cotton Crib & Toddler Bed Mattress Pad by Priva, Inc. It's $24.99 at Babies R Us. Read the reviews, but I've had great luck with it. I check it every time I change the sheet and it still fits very snuggly after almost five months – and it's not too squishy or fluffy. The material seems to be high quality. No fraying, no snags, no holes – and it's very soft. I haven't had any circumstances that would test it's stain or water resistance yet, though. He's been sleeping on it since he was 8 weeks old and really seems to like it since he's (mostly) sleeping through the night now…
How about co-sleeping with baby snuggled safely next to you?
You are going to need:
diapers, bibs, sock, shoes, allllll types of clothes (babies poop alot on their clothes, so be ready for up to 4 outfits a day), wipes, pacifiers, vaporizer, crib, mattress, changing table, crib set, dresser, bottles, breast pump, etc. There are many great store out there and many stores have organic/recycled items. Godd luck, and God bless!!!
